ReplyDeleteWinter looks so lovely when your looking at pictures of it on a computer screen. When you're up close and personal, as we soon will be here in Ohio, the evaluation changes somewhat.
Kirk - I know how that is. Pretty pictures don't convey the cold and dark that is winter, especially in the Great Lakes. Still, the hope is that once the Solstice is reached, the days will grow longer, and ultimately warmer. And as long as we old dogs still live, we welcome the winter, as it is the next step to Spring!

ReplyDeleteI love the celebration of the winter solstice for the reasons you mention above. The Paul Winter Consort annual Solstice Concert at St. Paul's Cathedral is a ritual of mine. It always ends with a wolf howl mingling wolf singing with human howling. It is chilling and thrilling.
